Sundbyholm
Fresh air, untouched countryside and clean water. Welcome to Sundbyholm for some wonderful relaxation and exciting outdoor adventures.
Enjoy beach life and history in Sundbyholm
The magnificent Sundbyholm Castle, situated along the shores of Lake Mälaren, dates back to the 17th century and now serves as a delightful hotel and conference facility. Located just south of the castle, you'll encounter the world-famous Sigurd Carving (Sigurdsristningen), one of Sweden's foremost runic carvings from the 11th century.
The Sigurd Carving, telling its tragic story for more than a thousand years, has inspired works like Wagner's opera "The Ring of the Nibelung" and Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings." The Sigurd Carving is known as one of the most strange and imaginative rune carvings in the world.
One of Swedens best guest harbors, beach and boating
After a visit to the rune carving you can enjoy a pleasant summer day observing the boats in the harbor, go on a boat trip, paddle a canoe, take a stroll in the Castle Park, enjoy a nice lunch at one of the cafés or restaurants, or take a refreshing swim at the longest sandy beach at Lake Mälaren.
In the winter when the ice has settled it is a perfect place to go long distance skating or ice-yachting.
Horse Racing and Beautiful Nature
Besides its castles and sandy beaches, Sundbyholm is home to Sundbyholms Travbana (horse-race course), where you can experience the excitement of horse racing up close. For a more relaxed experience, take a walk along the marina, enjoying views of Lake Mälaren and the surrounding nature. There's always something to explore in Sundbyholm.
