Cobblestone Streets and Boutique Shopping
Köpmangatan is lined with listed 18th-century buildings and narrow alleyways offering beautiful views of the Eskilstuna River. Historically, the area was home to workshops and tanneries. Today, it is known for its small independent shops, hair and beauty salons, and cosy cafés.
If you enjoy second-hand shopping, the Old Town offers several well-stocked stores selling everything from children's clothing and antiques to modern vintage treasures. Located just outside the city centre, ReTuna Recycling Mall is the world's first shopping centre of its kind. Everything sold here is reused, repurposed or sustainably produced.

Beyond Eskilstuna’s city centre, a whole world of rural shopping experiences awaits. Visit Wäsby Farm Shops just outside Torshälla, or pick sun-ripened strawberries and enjoy a locally produced lunch at Solby Farm.
Continue on to Sundbyholm Castle, where you can explore exhibitions, take a swim, or attend a harness racing event. And whatever you do, don’t miss Sundbyholms Kött & Fisk, a local favourite for quality meat and seafood.
At Magdakullan, just outside Eskilstuna, you can enjoy a menu shaped by the local landscape: beef from the farm itself, pike-perch from a neighbouring producer, and cider made by local orchards and cider mills, all served in a beautiful rural setting.

Stora Sundby Castle is an impressive sight. Although the castle is privately owned, visitors can enjoy the castle café during the summer months, browse the farm shop, and explore the surrounding estate on foot.

Torshälla – A Town with More Than 700 Years of History
The cultural town of Torshälla may be small, but it offers a rich heritage spanning more than 700 years. The artist Allan Ebeling is celebrated here with a dedicated museum, and several of his works can be seen throughout the town’s streets and parks. His impressive sculpture Tors bockar (Thor’s Goats) stands in the river that flows through this picturesque town.
Dating back to the 18th century, Bergströmska Gården is a living museum that preserves and brings the town’s history to life.
At Wäsby Farm Shops, visitors can enjoy a charming countryside shopping experience, with several independent shops and a restaurant.

Historic Places to Stay
First Hotel City, located across the central station, is Eskilstuna’s oldest hotel. Built in 1898, the hotel was designed by the architect Valfrid Karlsson.
Hotel Bolinder Munktell is situated in Munktellstaden, Eskilstuna’s historic industrial district. This is where the tractor and machinery manufacturer Bolinder Munktell established its factory in the late 19th century. The building that now houses the hotel was once the company’s headquarters and was designed by the renowned architect Ferdinand Boberg.
Sundbyholm Castle offers more than just the chance to live like royalty – it is also a living part of Eskilstuna’s history. Some of its rooms date back as far as the 17th century.
There are also smaller hotels, cottages and campsites to choose from, both in urban settings and in the surrounding countryside.
