Environmental Evolution in Eskilstuna

Eskilstuna takes environmental action further than most other cities and stands as an international role model. Here you’ll find ReTuna, the world’s first recycling mall, and Sweden’s largest constructed wetland. Both are inspiring destinations to visit. We call it Environmental Evolution!

Day 1: ReTuna Recycling Mall, Ekeby Wetland and Solby Farm

Begin your stay in Eskilstuna with a visit to the unique ReTuna Recycling Mall, the world’s first shopping mall where everything sold is reused, upcycled, or sustainably produced.

Right next door lies Ekeby Wetland, Sweden’s largest constructed wetland. It purifies wastewater while also serving as a scenic recreational area, perfect for birdwatching and peaceful nature walks.

Make a stop at Solby Farm, where you can shop homegrown berries and vegetables, charming interior details, and enjoy freshly baked treats in the café.

Round off the evening by tasting natural wines at Passage Wine Café or sample locally brewed beers at Eskilstuna Ölkultur, a craft brewery with its own pub.

Day 2: Magdakullan – Local Food, Red Cattle & Vintage Finds

Magdakullan is an organic farm located in Näshulta, just 30 minutes from central Eskilstuna. The farm features a popular farm shop, café, vintage barn, restaurant and charming accommodation. On selected Saturdays you can join a cow walk and meet the farm’s traditional Swedish Rödkulla cattle.

If you’d like to continue the day with more sustainable treasures, explore Eskilstuna’s many Flea markets, vintage shops and secondhand stores. A suggestion is to plan your visit for a Saturday, when most shops are open.
